Our leaders need to lead, our parents need to parent, our teachers need to teach and our healers need to heal. We need to respect and not judge and believe that each persons values and beliefs they own are theirs and therefore accepted. We don’t always have to agree just accept.

In the last year, I’ve tried to become more curious… What is this person concerned with? Is what he/she’s saying actually describing a symptom vs. the problem? Maybe there’s something at a detailed level that we have in common. That’s where I sometimes find commonality and/or a way to respect their differing opinions and I’ve even been able to change some minds and change mine in the process.

This particularly important when working in teams where a group of people come together, each bringing with them their expertise, experience and bias. By focusing on commonality more can be accomplished at a faster pace as they progress through the Forming, Storming, Norming, Performing phases.
