As much as I want to be the father who cares and protects his kids, I also want to be their friend and trusted mentor. I can tell you this is not an easy task and COVID has made it even more difficult. I loved your article. When I was reading it I remembered a couple of conversations I had with my kids and thought how different these conversation would have been had I read your advices before. I agree that as parents we need to ask ourselves what we really need for our kids and that we need to start with heart. Thank you once again. Chadi

Something that was missing from the description from the Dad: the reason for the move and whether or not his son was happy about being uprooted in the first place even without COVID. A situation that was full of anticipation and excitement turning into the pandemic situation is bad. But a situation of initial resentment compounded by the pandemic is another that could be harder to work through. Scott’s advice was right on, but these potential added factors may be things you really need to consider when you are thinking about what you want to come out of the conversations you will be having with your son.
