I used to live in California and went to a church that had a large ministry school. One of the strengths of the school was to get their students to believe that they could literally change the world. So many of them would graduate and leave thinking that people would give them jobs at churches or give them platforms to preach to millions of people.

This article would have been good for several of them. Because they truly believed that God would use them mightily, when it didn’t happen right away, for some, it shook their entire faith. I believe this is what you were pointing out about the need to work on the weeds. While it is so important to keep our heads focused on your long-term vision, we also need to see where we are now to know what the next steps are to take us to the vision.

I loved your analogy of the weeds in the river. Sometimes it doesn’t matter the direction you are pointing, as long as you get untangled from the weeds. Once free, you can steer yourself in the right direction and head to those higher goals. This is really good insight.

Thanks again,
Kevin
