I grew up in an immigrant household, but we had it so much better than many others who had less than we did. I am grateful for your posts for the perspective they offer. Thank you!

It also explains why you are as insightful and as compassionate as you are. Lovely mother – and please tell her thank you from me.

I wonder what the Native American Lummi thought about Bill and his family during that period in time.

It was my Grandmother. She sold magazines as a living and took in elderly ladies as a caretaker. I do not remember the house number. We would spend a week every summer with her after strawberry pickin’. She would give us a dime to go to the corner store to buy a loaf of white bread for her. She raised six children on her own. I believe it would have been early 60s when she lived there. When I attended Western I would walk from campus to visit her in a low income senior housing. At Halloween, all the cousins would gather there then go trick or treating at the sorority houses. Great fun! Thanks for jogging some memories!
