Because of the high cost of recruting nurses, and our paying them peanuts, I demonstrated that it was cost effective at all grade level to develop them. I believe it cost $5,600 to recruit a nurse. It should cost more now because as time goes by more women can choose to be surgeons and astronauts. You could look this figure up and to show those motivated by figures how much it is costs your organization in nurse turnover. It’s a lot harder to prove what it costs in engagment, morale, etc. I’ll be reading to see how that is demonstrated.
