I think every point you listed on this entry is correct. It will be a great guide for people who may be on the verge of filing for a divorce or splitting up. Great job!

Your story inspires me to keep trying to implement these skills in my own marriage. You and your husband deserve a lot of credit for your hard work in keeping your relationship together and for recognizing the impacts of fighting and divorce on kids, whatever their ages.

This is not only helpful for marriage problems but all kinds of relationship issues, but marriage poses one of the most difficult relationship challenges in life. As the Chinese say: it’s easy to share heaven and earth, but it’s hard to share a roof (or bed, for that matter).

Thanks for the inspiration, and congratulations to you and your husband.

Peace,
Liping.

Nine years ago my husband and I went through a similar experience. I can certainly relate to the five stratagies you have so elequently described. Your testimonial of the value of making the effort and reaching a level of happiness beyond initial immaginations describes with exactness my own feelings. I too used the book, Crucial Conversations, to help me gain the skills I needed to communicate with my husband.
Your accomplishment bears repeating – “We have stopped pulling our separate ways and now allow the full expression of each other’s personalities to show without fear of reprisal. The time we spend together is so enjoyable. It has taken a lot of work but it has been worth it. We’re holding hands again and heading off in the same direction.” – Ditto.
