Thank you! That really helped clear some thoughts and gave some ideas for moving forward with a difficult situation that I have faced with a dear friend.

I find the hot/cold treatment especially difficult. It makes it much easier to talk yourself into doing nothing. You get a warm reception and it feels like things are getting better, so why risk making them worse like they used to be. Then the cold treatment. And just when I’m convinced it’s time to do something about it, the person treats me with some degree of respect, and I’m back to telling myself it will be ok.

One day you’re the golden child other days you’re the scapegoat. if you are conversing with a superior (not only organizational but their sense of intellectual prowess), it’s never easy. Critical Skills has helped me navigate such encounters. What is distressing is when people triangularity converse and the middle managers takes heat from both sides. Negotiating skills for good and change take a lot of effort. If you can get support from others it helps in seeing where the betterment can be made. Keeping a cool, strong approach certainly helps.
