Our daughter had to have those type of shoes when she was a baby. Her feet turned in. Yes, she also complained some and it was hard to do, but we had learned from her older brother that there were times we had to be tough and do the right thing even if it hurt them and us in the short term.

Now seeing her as a grown woman, we are glad we did it.

Seriously though, I look forward to my Wednesday newsletter. I have gotten so much value and tips on how to deal with life, and I’ve sent this to many colleagues and friends, including my husband.

I often question myself when I get hard on them and this kind of story reminds me that kids need direction/guidance and while they might not appreciate it today; one day they will.

I did my best as a parent (a single one for many years) and looking back, I sure could have done alot of things better. However, my sons all turned out well, in spite of my mistakes. And, I am happy to declare to all who will listen, (and those who will not) they are excellent fathers! I am having so much fun being a grandma – what a redemption this is. Kerry – you are the greatest. Wish I could shake your hand…

I too could have done a better job with the tough love when I was a parent, yet when I hear stories about my kids’ friends I guess I was tougher than I thought! Looking so forward to the grandmother role….when I can just snuggle, spoil and love all the time!

I wasn’t the perfect parent, and I wish I could go back and re-do it all, but I can’t. So, I’m practicing being a better grandparent, and try to coach my daughters to be better parents than I was. Your story has a very good message, so I am passing it on to them.
