My bride and I have been married for 45 years, and like most couples together that long, we’ve been through some rough times. Our faith has helped us thru them, but if I had to choose the most helpful lesson I’ve learned from The Crucials, it is to stop and think up front, “What do I REALLY want to happen here?” Thinking past some petty nitpick that’s not important and focusing on the my real goal of making my wife happy has uncounted times made me either forget about the original problem, or to present it very carefully and tactfully with the “what do I really want to happen here” philosophy in mind. It has really made a difference.
